A Struggle for Life

This bit of drama was going on midday in the center of a huge carrot flower. The black fly was losing. The whitish horned fly was slowly having its way with him.

Sweet Peas are Open for Business

The sweet peas have finally blossomed. These plants grew from seeds that were planted very late... last year! The seeds were from DJ's grandmother. We figured that it too late in the season and that was that. Go figure...

Carrot flowers

A couple of last year's carrots stuck around through the winter. I've decided to let them go to seed. They've just started flowering this week.

I was watering the blueberry bush when I was buzzed by a loud flying insect. It landed in the raspberries. Luckily I had the camera handy.

A month ago, we were poking around in the woods on my mother's farm. We had a blast digging through the old junk pile of discarded bottles, buckets and parts. Look what we found.

Before she left, DJ applied some surgical pruning to our aging azalea. I was fearful. But behold! A week ago it started putting out blossoms.
